Devin Ulibarri and Alicia Mielke at Boston GuitarFest
Dai-Shizen (Great Nature) for guitar and flute, commissioned by guitarist Devin Ulibarri, will receive its premiere during the Emerging Artists concert of the 9th annual Boston GuitarFest.

Nell Shaw Cohen's The Coming of Spring and Multimedia Works

This recital will feature a staged workshop performance of my one-act monodrama for tenor and chamber ensemble, The Coming of Spring, inspired by the life and paintings of Charles E. Burchfield, conducted by David Rosenmeyer and directed by Herschel Garfein. The program will also include screenings of multimedia works Explore John Muir's Yosemite and Horizon: New York. NYU Contemporary Music Ensemble
California Zephyr for video and piccolo, clarinet, percussion, piano, violin, viola, cello, and bass will receive its premiere on this a program featuring composers in the Master of Music program at NYU Steinhardt.

NYU Symphony
As Composer-in-Residence with the NYU Symphony, I received the honor of having a newly commissioned work for orchestra, Point Reyes from Chimney Rock, premiered on this concert. The program also included works by Britten, Tchaikovsky, and my colleague Kyle Tieman-Strauss.

UrbanAnimals NYU
On the first concert of this series dedicated to presenting new works by current NYU graduate students, tenor Tyler Lee and pianist Alice Hargrove will be previewing an excerpt from my one-act monodrama The Coming of Spring, which will be accompanied by a video projection. Tyler and Alice will be joined by The Chelsea Quintet to present a staged workshop production of the full score this spring. Stay tuned for details!

Richard Vaudrey, Cello
Richard Vaudrey will perform in the galleries of the Parrish Art Museum to commemorate the one-year anniversary of of the Parrish's new building in Water Mill, NY. Rodriguez's performance will include Horizon (which he is co-premiering with Karlos Rodrigeuz, who performs on November 9), which I've composed specially for this occasion. I wrote Horizon to celebrate and reflect on the aesthetic quality of the Parrish's building and the surrounding landscape.

Presented by flutist Elizabeth Erenberg, this program will combine music, literature, and theater to sound the stories of Greek mythology. Nine Muses (2009), my set of nine miniatures for flute, violin, and harp, will be featured.
